today i read up to line 380 of the general prologue of the Canterbury tales, and what scares me
is how much i actually enjoy them.
i'm being introduced to the characters
so far it has been The Knight, the squire, Yeoman, prioress, the nun and priests, the monk, the frair, the merchant, the clerk, the sergeant of the law, the franklin, and the haberdasher and his crew.
When it was describing the Frair, at the part of
"He had arranged many a marriage, giving each
Of young women, and this at his own cost."
I'm not sure if it is meant, that he marries alot of women, or that he arranges their marriages with other men?

The Canterbury Tales
I began reading the Canterbury Tales, expecting something close to Shakespear...
I was wrong, but not disapointed, with the moddern text beside it, i actually enjoy the reading.
tonight I read up to line 208 of the General Prologue, and so far it is just explaining the characters, from personality to dress. It's easy to grasp at the moment but i expect it will get harder and more challenging.
I expect I will start to like the Knight's Squire, i like the way he is described.
and his motives from what the narriator has said.

thought process
"Where did that incoherent thought of you go?
I had it locked in my head...
I thought your constant shouts of silence were to emphasize the subtlety of our destined failure.
You bound my hands with non existent rope
And noosed my neck with your mental image, but I kicked out the stool.
I'm suffocating on lead and drowning in ink.
I am here for the taking... Here lies my immortality... Take it."
